BLIND SPOT
by Laura Ellen
What you can’t see might be murder.
Winter stops hiding Tricia Farni on Good Friday
When a truck plunges through the thinning ice of Alaska’s Birch River, Tricia’s body floats to the surface– dead since the night she disappeared six months earlier.
The night Roswell Hart fought with her.
The night Roz can’t remember.
Missing things is nothing new to sixteen-year-old Roz. She has macular degeneration, an eye disease that robs her central vision. She’s constantly piecing together what she sees– or thinks she sees–but this time her memory needs piecing together. How can Roz be sure of the truth if her own memory has betrayed her? Can she clear her name of a murder that she believes she didn’t commit?

As a member of the fab group of authors and teens we lovingly call ‘TeamTeenAuthor’ I am required, as the author of an October release, to perform a dare! The dares are mandated by our teen members, The Perfect 10. They gave me a choice of three things:
1) Cover my face in either peanut butter or marshmallow creme and share the picture.
2) Write my most embarrassing teen moment in Shakespearian language.
OR
3) Post pictures and other links all about your celebrity teen heartthrob crush from middle school/high school. Your own Justin Beiber so to speak.
Can you guess which one I chose?
This was my favorite album! And yes that is ALBUM as in record player.
Shaun Cassidy was my HEARTHROB! OMG did I love him. Okay, so I was in elementary school, not middle or high school — but he was my one and only true celebrity crush.
I played his records over and over while singing into my curling iron. I watched every episode of The hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries tv show, in which he was the sexy Joe Hardy (and you wonder why I write mysteries!)Truth? I still watch those episodes 🙂
Look at these photos and tell me YOU wouldn’t have been in love with him. He is irresistable.
Still not convinced he was heartthrob-worthy? Well check him out on stage. If he doesn’t have you at his shirt being thrown off, he’ll get you with that butt-wiggle, just watch!
And here he is singing and acting in my favorite show back then,The Hardy Boys :
I would’ve been his baby . . .
We are also running a Scavenger Hunt with awesome prizes! See Julie’s blog for info and to enter! And have you shared your ‘blind spot’ with me yet? Enter to win here by Octoer 16.
I’m headed to the Writer’s Police Academy, but you can find me on the web today talking banned books on E Kristin Anderson’s site and in a debut author interview with Nova Ren Suma.
I apologize for the lack of material lately on my website. Long story short, I have been moving across country. In June my family decided to move from Michigan to Arizona and becaise of that my life has been crazy, crazy busy.
We are settled, for the most part, in Arizona now. I still have boxes in my office, but it is unpacked and decluttered enough for me to focus on work once again. I am now trying to catch up on things neglected, like my writing!
One of the things I am also catching up on is the preparation for the Blind Spot book trailer! The wonderfully talented Vania Stoyanova at VLC Productions is in the midst of casting for it. How weird it is to comb over headshots of teens looking for just the right actresses and actors to play my characters!
My son James and his guitar teacher Steve ‘Oz’ Osburn actually composed the music for the trailer. Before we left Michigan (the WEEK before in fact) they recorded “Decision Point” at Sage Court Studios, a local recording studio owned and operated by the legendary Muruga Booker, who played at Woodstock and with greats like Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia. The experience was so awesome for me but even more so for my son. I can’t wait for people to hear his music 🙂 Here’s a picture of my son jamming with Muruga prior to the recording session. The trailer should be finished next month so stay tuned for that 🙂
